Position Overview
Seeking a Structural Steel Estimator to prepare competitive bids for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.
This role involves reviewing construction drawings, performing material takeoffs, developing pricing strategies, and collaborating with project managers, fabrication teams, and vendors to deliver accurate and profitable bids.
The ideal candidate enjoys problem-solving, thinking creatively through project challenges, and working closely with both the office and fabrication shop.
The company is also open to training someone with strong construction estimating experience who may not come directly from structural steel.

Key Responsibilities
- Review structural steel drawings and project specifications
- Perform detailed material takeoffs
- Develop complete project bids and pricing spreadsheets
- Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing
- Analyze labor, materials, and fabrication costs
- Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and fabrication teams
- Participate in value engineering and problem-solving
- Coordinate pricing revisions and negotiation strategies
- Assist in determining project feasibility and timelines
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of estimating experience preferred
- Structural steel estimating experience strongly preferred
- Strong blueprint reading and takeoff skills
- Experience with:
- Bluebeam
- Excel
- Tekla PowerFab preferred
- AutoCAD familiarity preferred
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Construction estimating backgrounds outside of steel may be considered and trained
