About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Director of eCommerce to lead the strategy, execution, and growth of its digital sales channels across North America. This executive will oversee direct-to-consumer (DTC) and marketplace businesses while developing innovative strategies that drive revenue, profitability, and an exceptional online customer experience.

This is a highly visible leadership position that partners closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to scale digital commerce, optimize customer acquisition and retention, and expand the company’s presence across major online marketplaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall eCommerce strategy across direct-to-consumer and third-party marketplace channels to achieve aggressive revenue and profitability goals.
  • Own the performance of all online sales channels, continuously optimizing assortment, pricing, merchandising, promotions, advertising, and conversion rates.
  • Identify new opportunities for digital growth through emerging marketplaces, partnerships, technologies, and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Merchandising, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and Finance to ensure alignment across business initiatives.
  • Analyze business performance using internal reporting and third-party analytics to identify trends, improve KPIs, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing eCommerce team while managing external agencies and strategic vendor relationships.
  • Oversee digital marketing initiatives across paid search, paid social, email marketing, SMS, website merchandising, and other customer engagement channels.
  • Lead the evolution of customer data, marketing technology, and personalization strategies, including Customer Data Platform (CDP) initiatives and MarTech roadmap development.
  • Manage eCommerce financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, advertising spend, marketplace costs, and overall profitability.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve inventory availability, fulfillment performance, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a best-in-class digital customer experience by ensuring consistent branding, compelling product content, strong customer engagement, and effective reputation management.
  • Stay current on industry trends, platform enhancements, competitive activity, and evolving consumer behaviors to keep the business at the forefront of digital commerce.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, eCommerce, or a related discipline. MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive leadership experience managing high-growth eCommerce organizations.
  • Demonstrated success leading both direct-to-consumer and online marketplace businesses, including Amazon and other major marketplace platforms.
  • Experience managing eCommerce platforms such as Shopify or comparable enterprise solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with CRM and email marketing platforms, including Klaviyo or similar technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing channels including Google Ads, paid social, SEO, retail media, conversion rate optimization, and customer acquisition strategies.
  • Proven ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Looker Studio, Power BI, Amazon Brand Analytics, or similar reporting platforms.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasting, and P&L performance within an eCommerce organization.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding communication and executive presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Passion for digital commerce, consumer behavior, innovation, and continuously improving the online customer experience.
